ASI is an AD/ADAS division in Honda Motor corporation and is committed to pursuing innovative development and creation of “value” in mobility and life. We aim “Zero traffic collision fatalities” involving Honda motorcycles or automobiles worldwide in 2050. ASI is responsible for the development of safety functions such as Honda Sensing Elite and Honda sensing 360 for this purpose.
AS3, under ASI has been developing state-of-the-art AI technologies for next generation AD/ADAS. We are specialized in computer vision-based perception and developing in-house algorithms for 360 sensing system and in-cabin monitoring system. Our office is located in Roppongi, a center of Tokyo, the best place to develop world No.1 technologies collaborating with startups and alliance partners.
Role
Computer Vision Researcher
AS3’s role is to develop in-house AI algorithm for Honda’s unique AD/ADAS features. Computer vision researchers in AS3 are responsible for conducting research of the latest papers in the top conference, reproduce it and improve it so that it can eventually meet our target requirement. Optimization of the model and getting a prospect for implementation of the model to the target HW is also needed. Algorithm development usually starts with the papers in the top conference, but sometimes start with the existing model we have already developed through our past project. CV researchers also need to submit a paper to the conference or internal exhibition in Honda to show the presence of AS3. AS3 collaborates with suppliers, alliance partners and other departments in Honda. CV researchers need to provide technical support in order to accelerate these collaborations.
The successful candidate must have the ability to develop AI perception model based on the SOTA algorithm published in the top conference. On top of that, the ability to meet tight deadlines and strong communication, interpersonal skills to work with team members are also needed.
Responsibilities
•Identify both existing and new research problems by interacting with Honda team members. Help in refining research methodology by sharing research trends and best practices within the community.
•Develop new algorithms for recognizing the world both outside and inside of the car with various sensors.
•Define the data structure, framework, design and evaluation metrics for research solution development and implementation.
•Contribute to conducting experiments based on the research question and help in collaborating with alliance partners and subcontractors of Honda by providing technical support.
•Implement research prototypes and simulations within given hardware and software requirements.
•Author research papers and apply patents to share and generate impact of research results across the team and in the research community.
•Review code developed by other team members and provide feedback to ensure best practices in terms of coding style, accuracy, testability and efficiency.
•Identify timelines and meet development milestones in the team.
